Buceo avanzado
Otras dos entradas fuera de mi lista. Este fin de semana fuí a sacar la especialidad de buceo avanzado con Buzos del trópico, en playas del coco.
Que mejor manera de empezar el paseo el viernes en la noche que con un viaje en moto desde mi casa en San José hasta el hotel Flor de Itabo en Playas del Coco. Aunque la calle está en muy mal estado, prefiero mil veces hacer el viaje en moto, ya que por lo menos puedo quitarme los huecos con mayor facilidad, y los que definitivamente no puedo esquivar casi que les puedo pasar por encima.
El sábado empecé el día con un delicioso desayuno (gallo pinto, huevos fritos, tostadas, mantequilla, jalea y jugo de naranja), y mientras hacía la digestión me dí a la tarea de conocer al resto de gente con la que iba a bucear, ya que había tanto gente que iba a sacar la licencia de buceo avanzada como gente que apenas iba a sacar la licencia de buceo en aguas abiertas (la básica). A las 9am nos dirigimos para la playa, para ayudar a Julio, Abel y Diego (los instructores) a cargar el equipo en la lancha. En el primer buceo nos pusimos a recordar lo aprendido durante el curso para la licencia de aguas abiertas, cosas básicas como quitarse la careta bajo el agua, compartir aire, con el respectivo paseito bajo el agua después de las prácticas, y en el segundo buceo practicamos como quitarse el equipo de buceo bajo el agua y flotabilidad, también con el respectivo paseito. Para cerrar el día hicimos un buceo nocturno, entramos al agua alrededor de las 7:30 pm y duramos unos 30 minutos bajo el agua, ya que habían muchos hilos de mar y nos estaban ortigando mucho por lo que abortamos el buceo antes de acabar los tanques, aunque la experiencia de tirarse al agua sin ver nada y tener que andar buceando con un foco fué muy buena.
El domingo, nos pusimos a hacer prácticas de navegación a las 8am mientras cargaban todo el equipo en la lancha. El primer buceo fue de profundidad, llegamos hasta 104 pies (alrededor de 32 metros) de profundidad, en donde el agua es helada, la visibilidad no es muy buena y hay que jalar un poco más duro para poder respirar. Después de el paseito de rigor, empezamos el ascenso e hicimos una parada de descompresión a 15 pies. El segundo y último buceo programado fue de navegación, nos pusieron a navegar por un área y llegar al lugar de donde partimos, y el hecho de que la corriente estaba muy fuerte no ayudó pero por lo menos yo si pude completar la prueba satisfactoriamente, pero yo tenía ventaja ya que en los Scouts nos habían enseñado a navegar y solo tuve que aplicar bajo el agua lo que ya sabía, a Olga (mi pareja de buceo) no le fué tan bien en la parte de navegación, aunque se puede justificar con el hecho de que nuestra brújula se trababa y que la corriente de verdad estaba muy fuerte, al punto de que al subir nos arrastró un poco, y tuvimos que nadar de vuelta hasta la lancha, Olga con un poco de ayuda mía ya que la venció el cansancio. Lo que sí me gustó de este último buceo es que ya siendo el último, y como supuestamente somos casi buzos avanzados, es que no nos hicieron bajar con guía, solo con la pareja.
Después de nuestro último buceo, seguía el último buceo de la gente del curso básico, y como a mí todavía me quedaba aire en el tanque, pedí permiso para ir a gastar lo que me quedaba. Aunque todos los otros buzos entraron al agua con 3000 libras de presión, y yo solo entré con 1200 libras logré hacer que el aire me durara casi lo mismo que a los otros, aunque tuve que gastar una reserva que siempre se deja para emergencias, y por si acaso pusieron a otro de los instructores a subir conmigo por si acaso.
Y para cerrar el día con broche de oro, otro paseito en moto desde Playas del Coco hasta San José, pero este con luz de día. El fin de semana estuvo genial, disfruté cada segundo, hasta los que dormía, ya que normalmente se hacen dos inmersiones por día y es cansado, hacer tres por día como este fin de semana, es agotador.
